Terms of Service
This is a reference translation. The legally binding version of these Terms is the Korean original. If this translation and the Korean original differ, the Korean original prevails.
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of Inflab Inc. (the “Company”) and users in connection with the use of Thaw (the “Service”) provided by the Company.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- “Party” means a group of users who melt one block of ice together.
- “Focus session” means a unit of recorded study time started and ended in the mobile app or the PC web app.
- “Ice” means a progress indicator that melts in proportion to the focus time accumulated by a party.
- “Reward” means an in-Service item opened by a party when its ice has fully melted.
Article 3 (Accounts)
- Accounts are created with a Google or Apple account, and the Company identifies accounts using the information provided by the sign-in provider.
- Persons under the age of 14 may not use the Service. Sign-in proceeds only after the user agrees to the item confirming that the user is 14 or older at sign-up, and no separate legal guardian consent procedure is provided.
- Users are responsible for managing their own accounts and sign-in methods, and may not lend or transfer them to others.
Article 4 (What the Service Provides)
The Company provides the following services.
- Recording focus sessions and displaying progress for each party
- Party invitations and joining, and chat within parties
- Opening rewards when the ice has fully melted
- In-Service benefits through watching ads
- Developer support (app only)
- AI chat — Tough love & comfort (app only)
The composition and features of the Service may change for improvement. Changes that materially affect use will be notified in advance through the app or this page.
Article 5 (User Obligations)
Users shall not engage in the following acts.
- Manipulating focus time or progress so that it differs from reality (automation tools, abnormal requests, etc.)
- Harassing other users or conveying illegal or hateful expressions within a party
- Accessing other users’ information by exploiting vulnerabilities of the Service
- Using another person’s photo or obscene, violent, or hateful images as a profile photo
- Writing content that infringes others’ rights or is offensive in a supporter note
If a user violates the above obligations, the Company may restrict the user’s use of the Service or suspend the account.
Article 5-2 (Blocking)
Users may block a specific user in party chat. Once blocked, the content of messages sent by that user is hidden on the blocking user’s screen, including messages received before blocking. Blocking can be done by long-pressing the other user’s message bubble on the chat screen of the app.
- Blocking applies only to the blocking user. The blocked user cannot know they have been blocked, and the conversation on their screen does not change.
- Blocking is a feature for hiding message content; the blocking user remains in the same party. It is separate from leaving the party.
- Blocking can be removed at any time from the “Settings > Blocked members” list or by tapping a hidden message bubble in the chat, and once removed, the hidden content is shown again.
Article 5-3 (Reporting Profile Photos)
Because profile photos are visible to members of the same party and in the feed, users may not use photos other than of themselves or obscene, violent, or hateful images.
- Users may report a single photo by tapping it.
- The Company reviews reported photos and, if they violate the rules, stops displaying them, showing the first letter of the nickname in their place.
- Reporting is different from blocking. Reporting does not hide the other user’s messages, and both users remain in the same party. To hide conversations, use blocking under Article 5-2.
- If the display of a photo is stopped, registering a new photo may be restricted for a certain period. Removal of the restriction may be requested through “Send feedback” in Settings.
Article 5-4 (Developer Support)
Users may support the developers of the Service with products of 1, 3, or 10 coffees under “Settings > Buy the devs a coffee” in the app. Support is voluntary; no features or benefits are provided for support, and nothing changes other than being shown in the supporter list. Support is not available in the web app.
- Payments are processed by the App Store and Google Play, and the Company does not collect payment method information such as card numbers.
- Refunds are subject to the refund policy of the store used (App Store or Google Play). Refunded support is removed from the supporter list.
- Upon support, the nickname and the number of coffees selected are shown in the supporter list visible to all users and cannot be hidden from the list. Upon account deletion, the line is shown as “Unnamed supporter.”
- Users may leave a note of up to 50 characters once, right after payment, and the note is also shown in the list. The note cannot be edited or deleted after it is written.
- Notes may not contain content that infringes others’ rights or is offensive. If another user reports a note, the Company may review it and stop displaying it, in which case the support line remains and only the note is removed.
Article 5-5 (AI Chat — Tough Love & Comfort)
Users may select Tough love & comfort on the Motivation tab of the app to chat with an AI. The conversation partner is an AI, not a person. This feature is not available in the web app.
- AI replies may be inaccurate or unsuitable for the situation. This feature does not replace professional counseling, medical, or legal advice.
- When crisis signals appear, information on support organizations is shown together. In an emergency, users should immediately contact emergency numbers such as 112 or 119.
- There are limits on the number of messages that can be sent and the number of new chats that can be created per day, and the limit for that day may be increased by watching ads or spending points. Points spent are not refunded, and increased counts are valid only until the following 5 a.m. (Korea Standard Time). The limits may change depending on operating conditions.
- Users may report inappropriate replies by long-pressing them, and the Company reviews reported replies.
- The Company may access conversation content to handle reports, review crisis responses, and operate the Service, as further described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting a chat removes it from the list, but the conversation is retained on the server.
- Users shall not enter other people’s personal information or illegal content in conversations, and shall not induce the AI to generate illegal or harmful content.
Article 6 (Rewards)
- Rewards may be used only within the Service and may not be exchanged for cash or other assets.
- The Company may reclaim rewards obtained by improper means.
- Points do not expire. However, items exchanged for points (Giftishow gift cards) may be used only for 30 days from the date of issuance, and their validity period cannot be extended or refunded. Upon account deletion, remaining points and unused gift cards are forfeited together.
Article 7 (Changes to and Suspension of the Service)
The Company may change or suspend all or part of the Service for maintenance, technical reasons, or operational needs. Where advance notice is possible, the Company will give notice in advance; in urgent cases, notice will be given afterward.
Article 8 (Termination)
Users may terminate the service agreement at any time by deleting their account. The scope of information deleted and the retention periods are governed by the Privacy Policy.
Article 9 (Limitation of Liability)
The Service is a tool to help record study, and the Company does not guarantee learning outcomes or grades. AI chat replies are generated by an AI, and the Company does not guarantee their accuracy or suitability. Unless there is intent or gross negligence, the Company is not liable for damages arising from the user’s device environment, communication failures, or content entered or captured by the user.
Article 10 (Inquiries and Disputes)
Inquiries regarding the Service may be sent to thaw@inflab.com. The laws of the Republic of Korea apply to disputes relating to these Terms.
Article 11 (Changes to These Terms)
If these Terms are amended, the amendments and the effective date will be posted on this page. Changes unfavorable to users will be notified 30 days before the effective date.
